ROUTABOUT PRIVACY MODES Routabout offers multiple privacy options designed to give users meaningful control over how their information is processed.
Where your request goes. Routabout lets you choose how each request is routed, presented as a three-color control (Full, Shielded, and In-House). In Full, Routabout may transmit your message, as written, to a third-party AI provider. Routabout does not attach your name, account, login, or other identifier to the request, and does not transmit your IP address or device information; the request is made through Routabout's own provider account, together with requests from other users. The provider therefore receives the content of your message but cannot associate it with you as an individual or maintain a profile tied to your identity. The content you type is transmitted as written; Routabout does not add identifying information you did not include, but in Full it does not remove information you chose to include.
In Shielded, before your request reaches any third-party provider, Routabout depersonalizes your query — applying automated techniques intended to remove or replace personal information. No automated technique is perfect, and you should not assume that all identifying information can be removed in every case. In In-House, your request is routed only to our contracted in-house tier (Mistral la Plateforme, EU) and does not reach any third-party AI provider. In every setting, Routabout always removes structured sensitive identifiers — such as government identification and payment card numbers — before any transmission to a third-party provider, and information Routabout holds about you, including your history, summaries, and any inferred profile, is never transmitted to a third-party provider; only the content of your current request is sent, and only in Full and Shielded.
What Routabout retains, and training. In Full, Shielded, and In-House, Routabout retains your conversation history, summaries, and account preferences to provide conversation continuity, personalization, and model switching. Your conversation content is never used to train the weights of any AI model — not Routabout's, and not its providers'. Every provider that processes your content does so under contractual no-training terms. To operate and improve the service, Routabout uses abstracted quality signals — routing outcomes, feature usage, latency and cost measurements, and feedback you explicitly give (such as a thumbs-up) — to evaluate and tune how Dudley routes, retrieves, and responds. That improvement process never places your conversation content into any model's training data.
Goldfish. Goldfish is a separate choice that works with any routing option. When you Goldfish a message or conversation, Routabout does not retain its conversation content, generated responses, summaries, embeddings, or persistent conversation records after processing is complete. Goldfished sessions keep no record at all: nothing is retained after processing completes, so there is nothing to evaluate or improve from. Certain limited operational records may still be retained, including billing, accounting, fraud-prevention, security, or legally required records. These records do not include the substance of the conversation itself.
In-house provider retention. Regardless of routing option, Routabout's contracted in-house provider (Mistral la Plateforme, EU) may retain a request for a limited period for abuse monitoring — up to approximately 30 days — before deletion, and does not train on it.
